Es ist soweit, die Anfrage und das Muster meiner Vistenkarte sind jetzt bei der Druckerei und in Arbeit. Nächste Woche wird sich entscheiden, ob meine Visitenkarten wirklich wie geplant aussehen werden oder doch anders?! Ich werde natürlich darüber berichten :-)

In der Zwischenzeit geht's morgen ab nach Italien auf Urlaub. Da darf Lesestoff natürlich nicht fehlen. Neu in meiner Büchersammlung ist seit heute "The Graphic Design Exercise Book" by Carolyn Knight & Jessica Glaser. Hier findet man sowohl Informatives als auch Inspirierendes aus den Bereichen "packaging, branding, visual identity, promotion, page layout, music graphics and screen-based design". Ich habe es heute mal kurz durchgeblättert und gleich einiges an schönem Design gesehen. Es beinhaltet Beispiel-Briefings zu den einzelnen Bereichen und ausgearbeitete originelle Lösungsansätze dazu.
Natürlich wird auch mein Sketchbook und Bleistift im Urlaub nicht fehlen. Ich hoffe also, einige Eindrücke nicht nur zu sammeln sondern auch zu zeichnen. You'll see next week...

Finally my request and the prototype of my business card are at the print shop and the offer is being calculated. Nest week will show if my business cards will look as planned or maybe different?! I will report on that :-)

In the meantime I'm off to Italy for vacation and something to read must not be forgotten. A new member was added to my small collection of books today. It's called "The Graphic Design Exercise Book" by Carolyn Knight & Jessica Glaser. The book is not only very informative but inspiring too. The design examples range from the areas of packaging, branding, visual identity and promotion to page layout, music graphics and screen-based design. I flipped through it today for some minutes and saw a lot of stunning graphic design. In the book there are examples of briefs for every area and in addition some creative approaches or solutions to that brief.
Of course my sketchbook and pencil will not be left at home either. I hope to not only collect a lot of impressions but also draw some of them! You'll see them next week...

Prototyp meiner Visitenkarte / Prototype of my business card

Soweit fertig - der Prototyp meiner Visitenkarte ist gedruckt und geschnitten, gefalzt und geprägt :-) Nun ja, ich muss zugeben, dass ist nicht die erste Visitenkarte, die ich mache und die passt dann auch gleich - das wär fast ein Wunder. Habe mehrere Designs ausprobiert, von einer fachkundigen Jury bewerten lassen ;-) und eigentlich war gleich von Anfang an, diese Visitenkarte mein Liebling. Ein paar kleine Änderungen mussten vorgenommen werden, deshalb habe ich heute nochmal ein Muster für die Druckerei gemacht. Leider ist der Druck auf meinem Drucker nicht der beste, aber dafür werden die Visitenkarten der Druckerei um ein Vielfaches schöner :-)

Bin gespannt, wie das Angebot der Druckerei aussehen wird, da ich gerne runde Kanten haben möchte und eine Prägung. Sollte die Prägung zu teuer sein, dann muss eventuell Handarbeit geleistet werden :-) Mal sehen...

So far, so good - prototype of my business card is printed out, cut, folded and embossed :-) Well, I do have to admit that this is not the first business card I've created and it happens to be perfect - that would be a miracle :-) I've tried different design, let them be judged by a competent jury ;-) and to be honest, from the beginning on, this design was my favorite. Some small changes had to be done, that's why I had to make another one for the print shop today. Unfortunately my printer's not the best but I know the finished business card from the print shop will be a hundred times more beautiful :-)

I'm curious to see the offer the print shop will send me, because I want to have round corners and part of my logo embossed for the business card. If the embossing turns out to be too expensive, I'll just have to use my crafting skills :-) We'll see...

Start in den Sommer mit einem neuen Kapitel / Starting the summer with a new chapter

Mein Start in den Sommer beginnt in diesem Jahr mit einem aufregenden Kapitel. Vor etwas mehr als einem Jahr habe ich meine Firma "sposato graphicals e.U." gegründet und diese durch meine Vollzeitbeschäftigung bei einer anderen Firma etwas vernachlässigt. Nun habe ich mich dazu entschlossen, meine gesamte Zeit der Selbstständigkeit zu schenken. Ohne es probiert zu haben, weiß man nie ob man es versucht haben sollte, oder? Also probier ich's und freue mich auf die nächsten spannenden Monate, die zeigen werden, wie sich meine kleine Ein-Personen-Firma entwickelt :-)

Los geht's heute mit der Erstellung eines Prototypens meiner neuen Visitenkarte für die Druckerei. Im Juli sollten die gedruckten Visitenkarten dann bereit sein, um ausgeteilt zu werden :-)

My start into this summer starts with a new exciting chapter in my life. About a year ago I started my small business, called "sposato graphicals", which I somehow neglected a little because of my full-time job in another company. Now I decided to go for it and want to dedicate all my time to being self-employed. Without giving it a shot, you'll never be able to tell, if you ever should have tried it, right? Therefore, I'll try it and I'm looking forward to the next few months full of excitement and new experiences. Time will tell how my little business will develop :-)

Today I'm starting off with creating a prototype for my new business card to send to the print shop. In July the cards should be printed and ready to be handed out :-)
